We participated in a yatch race, in Picton on the South Island.  This view is looking back at the bulk of the crews we left behind as we went on to finish second overall!

Guides work to recarve the steps on the Fox Glacier before the first tours can hike up onto the massive ice.  The glacier moves about 3m a day, so the steps must be continually maintained or they will disappear.

I experienced New Zealand in January 2007 on another UD study abroad, aboard Boswell, a refurbished 1958 Leyland Tiger Cub Coach.  Our tourguide, driver, Kiwi friend was Laurie Jones, and he showed us his homeland. We saw the north and south Islands, the beaches, the rivers, the waterfalls, the sounds, the hot springs, the glaciers, the volcanoes, the people and the food of his wonderous country.
